EXECUTIVE BOARD

President — Don Hopkins
Don and his wife, Deb,  operate Hopkins Southdowns with the help of their daughter and son-in-law, Jess & Nick Miniter.  They raise purebred Southdown and commercial sheep, and sell purebred breeding stock.  Hopkins Southdowns also sells lamb cuts and whole carcasses.  Don is the Past President of the American Southdown Breeders Association and a member of their board for 22 yrs. Deb is the Executive Secretary of the Continental  Dorset club. 

Vice President — Bob Blackmer
Bob grew up in Coventry, RI. He is a first generation farmer and started his career in association with Joel Salatin's Polyface Farm in Swoope, Virginia. He continued from there working with Pike Valley Farm in Lancaster, Kentucky. He is currently the livestock manager at Pat's Pastured in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Bob loves farming and looks forward to continuing to work and develop in the field of pasture raised livestock and all forms of regenerative agriculture.

Secretary — Martha Neale
Martha grew up on a dairy farm in North Kingstown and now operates Windmist Farm in Jamestown with her husband George and their family. They are committed to providing their community with a healthy and safe source of meats from animals that have been raised naturally. They sell from the farm and at various farmers markets .  Martha has been involved with RI Raised since the beginning and has served as secretary for the last seven years.

Treasurer — Taylor Meek
Taylor grew up farming with her parents on a small sheep and vegetable farm in Glocester, RI. She, along with her mother Robin, work hard raising registered Lincoln Longwool sheep, broiler chickens and a variety of different vegetables for restaurants, their farm stand and their summer and winter CSA's. She graduated from Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT with a degree in sustainable agriculture and food production. After graduation she found jobs working in different areas of the food production field: from field hand to assistant butcher,  and even as  a grocery packer and warehouse worker in a large CSA. Taylor has knowledge of many different areas of the food production world and can give input, experiences and opinions based on her time in these fields that can help RI Raised Livestock grow into an even more successful organization. 

Executive Director/Association Coordinator — Heidi Quinn
Heidi grew up on a small beef farm in Richmond. With the help of their two daughters, Heidi and her husband, Neil, raise several beef to direct market annually, as well as turkeys and layers. A former teacher, Heidi is an active volunteer in FFA, helping guide young farmers toward success in sustainable agriculture. As Association Coordinator, Heidi is the person you speak to by phone or email to schedule your animal processing, as well as handling membership services, record keeping and general questions about everything.
